Any transaction that adds to shares and is NOT a reinvestment (dividends, capital gains, in the case of a mutual fund, or interest) is considered an addition.
Advisors Assistant tracks additions on two levels:
• | Account |
• | Asset |
Asset Additions
Asset additions represent the amount of money into the asset from outside of the asset. The flow may come from another asset in the same account.
For an asset, additions are not the same as the amount invested by the investor. The addition could have come from the sale of another security within the same account and those funds involved in the sale could represent gains and reinvested funds.
At the Account Level, Additions and the amount invested by the client are one and the same.
Account Additions
Account additions represent the amount of money that flows into the ACCOUNT from outside of the Account. The flow can come from the client or from any other source, including another account.
To be considered an addition, the flow of funds must increase shares.
Net Additions Or Net Cash Flow
Net Additions is defined as the Additions minus the Withdrawals.

Account additions is not always the sum of the asset additions because of gains that can take place inside of the asset. |
