Real Estate Investment Trust. A corporation or trust that uses the pooled capital of many investors to purchase and manage income property (equity REIT) and/or mortgage loans (mortgage REIT).

The SEC restricts REITs from sending daily prices in the DST FAN Mail download.

DST sends information on REITs, but they do not send a price, even if a transaction is sent.  A position is sent when there is a transaction.  The position contains shares and total asset value.

Advisors Assistant derives the price from the position that is sent and the number of shares purchased.

If REIT shares are being purchased at a discount, this can affect the price.

NOTE: REIT purchases, if at a discount, must be modified using the Modify Investment Activity Screen because the price applied to the purchase will be the gross price.
