Advisors Assistant comes delivered with calculations based on the Settlement Date of the transactions. This is when the money actually moves in a brokerage account from the Cash Balance Account to settle the transactions.
Some brokerages based their reports on Trade Dates, the date the order is executed.
Investment values and end of day transaction values are calculated on either Settle Date or Trade Date. A system administrator can change the entire system on the System Preferences, Investments Tab.
System Recalculation Required
If you change the calculation from Settle Date to Trade Date, or Trade to Settle, it is necessary to recalculate all of the values in the system. This is done on the Calculate Investment Values Screen. Be sure to check the following boxes:
• | Calculate Basis |
• | Rebuild Tax Lots |
• | Calculate ROR |
• | Rebuild Valuation Tables |
This calculation can take from several minutes to several hours depending on the number of accounts and transactions.
Effect on Values
When the system is set to Settle Date, it is assumed that the share ownership takes place on the Settle Date. Valuations and Rates of Return are calculated on that date.
When the system is set to Trade Date, it is assumed that the share ownership takes place on the Trade Date. Valuations and Rates of Return are calculated on that date
This is why you must recalculate the entire database and all of the values.
