Getting Started With DAZL

DAZL downloads mutual fund data.  It is owned by PNC Global Investment Services.

Step 1: Get Signed Up With To Receive The Data

Go to www.DAZL.com and click on New Enrollment Forms at the top of the screen or click on the link below.

Have the following information ready:

One sample account number for each fund family. (This will provide the Dealer Number.)

Your Branch Number

Your Rep Number

Step 2: Install The DAZL Download Program Provided By DAZL

DAZL provides a program which retrieves the files from their web site. Installing the program is somewhat complicated, but DAZL provides support at 800-409-8774 x950 to help you with installing.  The User Guide is available at the link below.  (Adobe Reader Required.)

Because the program is provided by DAZL, Client Marketing Systems Technical Support does not provide installation support for this program.  Once it is successfully installed, we will assist in:

Making sure it is in the correct location.

Helping you get it working with Advisors Assistant.

DAZL Download Program Location

The DAZL program files must reside on C:\Program Files\Client Marketing Systems\Advisors Assistant.

The DAZL download program consists of 4 files.

dazl.pfx
DazlWebClientCon.exe
DazlWebClientLib.dll
IDazlClient.bat

If you need to relocate the files using Windows Explorer copy function, and if Vista is being used, you should start Windows Explorer with a right click and "Run As Administrator" to copy the files into the folder above.  For Windows XP, you would just start Windows Explorer normally.

Vista Users

The DAZL download program manual indicates that Vista is not one of the systems required.  However, our installation tests indicate that the program works with Vista and  Advisors Assistant does work with Vista, and you can retrieve them manually from the DAZL site.

You can certainly try to install the DAZL Download Program onto a Vista Computer.

Step 3: Download And Process The Files

You can perform your daily retrieval of files in one of two ways.  If possible, you should use the DAZL Download Program, but if you do not install it, or if you are using Vista, you may need to use Manual Retrieval.

Using The DAZL Download Program

To retrieve files automatically

1.Click on the Download icon on the Investment Sidebar Menu

2.Choose DAZL

3.Left click on the Retrieve Data Files Button

4.Use the Help and Videos available on the individual screens.

Manually Retrieving And Processing Files

The following instructions have been provided by DAZL for manually retrieving files.

1.Go to http://www.dazl.com   'Download Files/Login' (top right)

2.Enter in DAZL ID - click on sign in

3.Enter in password (if suspended because of inactivity) user must email dazlsupport@pnc.com to have their password reset.

4.Change 1 time password provided by DAZL Support

5.Establish 3 MFA Q & A's

6.Click on 'Download Files/Login' once again
Files appear on the Download files page waiting to be downloaded  (Files can also be re-downloaded from the Download Archived files page)

7.Click on each individual file name and save to the appropriate folder designated for DAZL Files.  Be sure to remember the folder name as you will need it for Advisors Assistant.

Once you have retrieved and stored the files on your local system, process them by

1.Click on the Download icon on the Investment Sidebar Menu

2.Choose DAZL

3.RIGHT click on the Retrieve Data Files Button

4.Navigate to the files you downloaded in the steps above.

5.Choose the files.  Use Ctrl-Click or Shift-Click to choose more than one file.

6.Use the Help and Videos available on the individual screens.
