The Download Process

Step 1: Download The GWN Files

Using your web browser, log into the GWN web site and download the daily files.

You should set aside a folder on your local machine into which you download the files.  Don't use this folder for any other purpose.

The GWN files have a naming conventions which is Rep Code + YYYY_MM_DD.zip.  If your Rep Code is 777, then and you are download files for December 27, 2013, the file will be named 777_2013_12_27.

Step 2: Process Files Into Advisors Assistant

From the Advisors Assistant Side Bar Menu, click on Investments | Download | GWN Securities Download.  Then click on the Retrieve Data Files Button.

Navigate to the folder you established in Step 1.  Advisors Assistant will remember the folder from download to download, that's why you should be consistent.  It will save your having to navigate to it every time.

Select the latest download file and let them process.  Advisors Assistant will unzip the files and process them.

Step 3: Download File Management

After the files are processed, you should move them from the download folder to an archive folder.  It's up to you how much file history you keep.  Some users keep years, while others keep a month or so.

Moving the files to an archive folder will make it easier to keep track of which files you have processed.
