An index is a statistical indicator providing a representation of the value of the securities of which it is made up.  They often serve as barometers for a market or industry and benchmarks against which performance is measured.

Expired Index

Advisors Assistant will indicate that an index is expired when the index symbol in Sungard has changed and values are no longer returned under the old symbol.  You will usually see this if you are saving search criteria in performance reports and the criteria contains indexes.

The solution to this is to just click on the ellipse symbol and choose the index again from the list.  That will reset the symbol to the new symbol.

Advisors Assistant has already moved the values if you have your system updated since Sungard made the change.

Index Downloads

Index values are automatically downloaded through Sungard.
