When you install Carbonite, you should be aware that it does not backup a file of the type BAK.

If you want Carbonite to backup your Advisors Assistant files, then you should FIRST use the Advisors Assistant backup program run from your server and SECOND, set Carbonite to backup the ZIP file created by the Advisors Assistant backup.

How to Back Up Your SQL or Other Databases

With Carbonite you can back up open files, including the files that make up your SQL database. However, because the various files that make up your databases are interconnected, you should back up your database using a separate tool specifically designed for the program that you are using. Database programs usually come with an imbedded tool to make a backup of your database for you to save on your local machine. [Red added for this help topic.]

Once your backup tool creates a backup file of the database on the hard drive, you can then use Carbonite to "back up the backup" to our servers for added protection against computer disaster.

You can never have too many backups!  Do not rely on just one backup method.  Make sure you use a redundant method at some interval with which you are comfortable.
