Commission Information For Base Coverage

Commission Information For Base Coverage

Commission are calculated for individual coverages and different coverages can have different commission rates.  However, this screen is for the Base Coverage and therefore, it contains information that pertains to all coverages for the policy.

Calculate Commissions Checkbox

This is a key field is you are tracking commissions.  When you check this box, additional validation of data is performed and you will not be able to exit the screen unless you have entered enough data to calculate commissions. This box pertains to this coverage only.  It does not pertain to all coverages on the policy.

For example, if you check the box, you must enter a Rate Table Set or you can't save the data.

Renewal Begins

Some health insurance policies begin renewals (Year 2 in the Rate Table) in January, regardless of when the policy is written.  If you leave this field blank, normal processing, renewal begins in 13 month from the effective date, takes place.  If you fill it in with a date prior to the 1st anniversary, the first renewal will begin on that date.

Commissions Begin

This field will default to the Effective Date, but you can defer the date used to begin calculating commissions by manually changing the date.

Commissions End

You can leave this field blank and Advisors Assistant will calculate commissions with no end date.  However, if you know when a policy will no longer pay commissions, you should enter the date here.

Commissions will not be calculate on or after this date.

Commission Paid Thru Dates

When commissions are posted as paid to the agency and/or producers or managers, these fields are filled in by Advisors Assistant

Agency

This field is the name of the Agency for which the commissions are being calculated.  Advisors Assistant can calculate and track commissions for more than one Agency.  If there is only one Agency, it is defaulted to the name of the Registered User, but the name displayed for the Agency can be changed to display any name by using the Producer Lookup Screen and selecting the Agency on that screen.

Producers 1 - 4

The producers shown here are also available for entry on the Policy Relations Tab and are also shown here because they are needed to calculate commissions.

Producers must first be added to Advisors Assistant as a name and then designated as a "Producer".  You can do this from the Producer Lookup Screen.

To enter a Producer, just click on the field and choose the producer from the list of producers.

Managers / Other Payees 1 - 4

Managers are a class of producer and are just another name on the producer list.  Managers can be included on the policy and paid a commission.

To enter a Manager, just click on the field and choose the Manager from the list of Producers.

Commissions Paid Thru

These fields are usually maintained by Advisors Assistant and are updated when you post commissions.  For more information about Posting Commissions, click HERE.
