Posting Transactions Overview

Posting transactions involves (1) telling Advisors Assistant that your agency has received funds due from your commission source, and (2) marking commissions due your producers and managers as having been received and eligible for payment (unless they were advanced.)

Determining Which Commissions Due To Display For Payment

Determining Which Commissions Due To Display For Payment

You will most likely have commissions due transactions from more than one company or commission source, so this screen is designed to allow you to only display the transactions you need.

Normally you will do the following:

1.Determine the company you want to post.  That will be the insurance company or other source that sent you the check and transmittal report.  Use the company field to filter only that company.

2.Determine the earliest and latest date of any transaction on your transmittal report. Fill that range into the Due From / To fields.

3.Determine if the report contains only certain commission levels, such as only overrides, and set the Commission Type to the commissions you plan to post.

Set the Transactions To Post to produce a posting list that will be like the transmittal you receive from the insurance company.

Due From / To

Determine the date range of commissions you are being paid for on your transmittal report and match that date range.  Look for the earliest date for policies that were paid late and the latest date for policies that were paid before they were due.

Company

Since your commission transmittal came from one company, you will always want to select a company for posting.

For posting purposes, the rest of the fields would normally be left at their default values except for special posting instances.

Status

This refers to the Payment Status of the commission transaction.

Comm Based On

The company transmittal report you receive with your commission check will often not have every type of commission.  Trailers may come on a different report or overrides may come just once a month or quarter.

Uncheck What Is Not On Your Transmittal

Uncheck What Is Not On Your Transmittal

Click on the field to get the above listing.  Uncheck the types of commission which are not included on your transmittal report from which you are posting.

Agency

If you are tracking commissions for more than one agency, you can choose the agency here.  This field defaults to the Registered Owner of the License.

Producer

This filter item looks at Producer Fields 1 through 4 on the Modify Policy Screen Relations Tab.  If the producer you select is present in any of those 4 fields, the commission transaction will be selected.  The producer is different from the Payee in that a manager could be the payee on one of the transactions selected.  The transactions selected may have commission components payable to more than one Payee.

Payee

If you are only posting one producer, or if your transmittal from the company is sorted by producer, you may want to work with a shorter list and limit your posting screen to just one Payee.

Coverage Type

The type of coverage is stored in the Master Coverage Plan Record. Additional information is available in the Coverage Type topic.

Policy Year

For purposes of commissions, the policy year is computed based on the effective date of the coverage.
